Spira Continent
Personality:
Ming is a sarcastic, witty, and snide individual who doesn't hesitate to speak his mind when something is stupid or witless. Always one to oversee all the angles in a problem, Ming also likes taking things from every available viewpoint. Not that he'd make changes to his overall demeanor to suit these points, but it helps to have as many options available as possible, know what the people around you are thinking, where they're coming from, and how to warp your own needs around them. Working in a system like the Yevon clergy has left him more than a little bitter and cynical at the whole concept of organized religion.
This seems odd as he's a summoner working for them, but his reasons for being so cold with the priesthood is quite understandable. To anyone who speaks too highly of the glory and blessings of Yevon, Ming devotes special attention with his acidic tongue, more than usual with anyone else. But he does have a good heart and genuinely wants to help the people of his country. And if he can't do it in the temples of Bevelle, then he will do it at the ruins of Zanarkand. Apart from that, he's also quite lecherous, though not to the point of rudeness, and enjoys some rum at the local bars as well. All in all, not your ideal summoner, but one who gets the job done.

Magic
Magic is the power of the ancients, the ability to use the powers of the planet to heal or even to damage. Unlike combat abilities magic abilities cannot be made. Magic is premade and is listed under magic. At creation each character starts with a single magic slot, this is increased depending on race or class. A list of availble magics is in the appropriate thread. Level 2 and 3 magic abilities can only be learned if you have the corrisponding lower level spell.
Level 1 Slots
-Cure: A spell created by a maiden, who had witnessed horror that would of made even the more blackened soul feel sick and twisted, this maiden had grown up watching people around her being slaughtered, having people defending her and even noticed that no matter how hard she tried to heal them with medicinal herbs, they would countine to die, so she devoted her soul and life into creating a spell, one that could mend the body and soul and even help those who neared death, while she recorded her research in a scroll, she only finished the spell upon her own death, she got to use it once to heal a wounded rabbit. So this is a spell of healing is very basic, it creates a warmth within the soul and can help preserve life.
-Aero- The spell that represents wind, it can cause blades of wind to spiral around their enemies. Many believe that in higher levels it can cause twisters of power, sending people and monsters flying away as if they were merely pawns on a chess board, this was brought to the world by what many expect were the sylphs or harpies, it always hard to tell but many notice that many aerial monsters seemed to have this attack, while it is an effective counter to earth based attacks. This is a more dangerous an dual sided spell, as it poses as much danger to it's caster as it does to it's enemy.

History:
Ming never knew his parents, like many who grow up in Spira. With Sin rampaging and killing everything in sight, his childhood quickly saw him as a squalling orphaned infant brought to one of the Yevon-run orphanages in Bevelle. Growing up seperate from the other kids because of his appearance as scrawnier and uglier of face, Ming grew up practically alone. No real friends to speak of, one of the caretakers suggested he turn his attention to books and reading. The boy excelled at his studies, outdistancing most of the other children in his age group. Once he became of age, Ming immediately joined the clergy, knowing that he had found a place to belong to.
However, acceptance was not as forthcoming as the young acolyte had hoped. Many of the initiates came from wealthy Spiran families who bought their children into the fold, with high hopes that they would get cushy higher-end jobs managing and overseeing the theocracy. Ming had to start from scratch with nothing to his name but determination and his own crafty mind. The others scorned him for his lower than dirt birth as well as for his horrid appearance. It didn't matter much to him; his skin had hardened by the time he was six o withstand a thousand barbed insults about his face and posture. He fired back, and got in trouble a great deal with the teachers because of his snarky behavior.
Soon leaving even those bigots behind, Ming joined with the higher echelons of Yevonites within the church itself. He spent a great deal of his time abroad in the country, helping manage temples, aiding Summoners on their respective pilgrimages, assisting the devout and even the undevout less-fortunate ones who were struck by Sin's fury. He even made a few stabs at converting the untamed and wild cultures surrounding Spira, including the Ronso and the Al Bhed. The lion-like warriors of Mt. Gagazet saw him as a strange little man with a quirky sense of humor, but respected his way of bringing the teachings. The Al Bhed would have run him off their island if he had not gotten on the good side of their leader, so he was at least tolerated. It was here that Ming learned about the Al Bhed philosophy, seeing a different view from the strict and rigorous Yevonite clergy. Breaking their bread, consorting with their women and swapping cultural views with these rugged, industrious people started Ming on the road towards opening his eyes to the hypocrisy that he'd been apart of all his life.
Ming returned to the capital a changed man, one who saw all around him as a little dimmer, not as pristine or as forthright as it had once seemed. When he'd reported that he had been unable to convert the Al Bhed after spending so many months with them, the maesters were furious and declared the whole race to be heretical and traitorous towards the teachings of Yevon. This stunned Ming as he had known the representatives of the Al Bhed to be quite sociable and enjoyable, not the least bit warlike towards Yevon's goals or statutes. But his superiors would hear none of it and practically declared them enemies of the state.
The once-proud Yevonite preacher and devout follower was furious with this decision and slipped into a downward cycle of drinking, wenching and rebellion against the church. He openly debated the philosophies of Yevon in crowded chapels, called out the great maesters in front of crowds, besmirched the warrior monks, and many other 'atrocious' acts. To the higher-ups, his behavior was like a defecation on the reputation of the church. They finally approached him with an ultimatum: either leave the capital and the clergy behind, or he would be dragged in chains before a tribunal of maesters to be judged on his irresponsible behavior.
They gave him the night to think it over. Come morning, he was nowhere to be found in his quarters, and the maesters assumed that all was well. However, their relief was short lived when word reached them that Ming had arranged for passage to the isle of Besaid to undergo his own pilgrimage as a Summoner. To the older representatives, it was like Lord Braska all over again, a publicity stunt that would either bring them greater fame or greater ruin. They decided that if he was going to attempt the pilgrimage, he may as well succeed. If he defeated Sin, he would die, and that was one headache they would be rid of. Galling as it was, they spread the word to the temples to allow him passage to the cloisters, and watched to see what fate would have in store for their rebellious former follower...
RP sample:
Ming's robes flapped in the salty wind. Not that he could feel the wind, but it still felt nice through all the layers of clothing.
It was only natural that some people would get curious about what lay beneath said robes. Ming would warn them not to let their curiosity get the better of them, but that wasn't usually enough to dissuade the more adventurous of the onlookers. So, he had a little fun weaving fantastic stories about how his father beat him as a child and disfigured his face, or earned a scar from a particularly nasty fiend whilst carrying the word of Yevon to the untamed lands beyond Spira.
He got quite a kick out of seeing people's reactions when he went into detail about his deformities. Most had to rush to the bathrooms in order to relieve the contents of their stomachs to cure themselves of those vile descriptions.
Ming had no idea how he'd become such a wretched little cretin, but he knew the church of Yevon was to blame. That was one of the greatest fallbacks when anything went wrong in life, he mused, just blame it on religion. Certainly did better than actually facing your problems, and made for more colorful outbursts at opinionated dinner parties...
He was so far into his muses that he nearly lost track of how the small island in front of him seemed far closer than it did five minutes ago. Either way, it seemed as though his own pilgrimage was about to begin...
